Olise of France tops World Cup offensive statistics with five assists

French forward Michael Olise leads the attacking statistics in the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a tournament-high five assists, as per the most recent player data on the FIFA website on Wednesday, 1 July.

Olise has distinguished himself as the tournament’s most productive playmaker, registering five assists during France’s campaign. The 23-year-old has taken 14 shots, five of which were on target, resulting in an expected goals (xG) rating of 1.61. He has taken seven shots from within the penalty area and seven from outside it, while securing 12 corners—more than any other player among the top assist providers.

Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is second in the attacking statistics with four assists. He has attempted six shots, with one on target, and possesses an expected goals (xG) value of 0.23. Four of his attempts came from inside the penalty area, while two were taken from outside the box.

 

Three players are concurrently positioned in third place, each with three assists.

Roberto Alvarado of Mexico has recorded three assists from five shot attempts, none of which were on target. His expected goals (xG) are 0.28, with two attempts from within the penalty area and three from beyond it.

German playmaker Florian Wirtz has recorded three assists and attempted ten shots, with one shot on target. He possesses an xG of 0.97, ranking second among the top five players in offensive metrics, with an equal distribution of five shots taken from within and five from beyond the penalty area.

Norway’s captain, Martin Odegaard, secures a position in the top five with three assists. The midfielder has attempted five shots, with one on target, resulting in an expected goals (xG) value of 0.31.

Olise leads the rankings for corners won with 12, followed by Alvarado with nine, Wirtz with six, Odegaard with five, and Guimaraes with three.

The data, released on FIFA’s official website, illustrate players’ offensive performances in the tournament up to Wednesday, July 1, encompassing assists, shots, shots on target, expected goals (xG), efforts from both inside and outside the penalty area, headed shots, and corners won.
