An animated series chronicling the remarkable life and career of Diego Maradona, the Argentine football icon, is officially under development for a new generation.
Reliance Animation of India has obtained the rights to create a scripted series that would depict Maradona’s progression from his youth in Villa Fiorito to his status as one of the most legendary figures in international football. The project is being developed for both television and streaming platforms; however, creative specifics and a release schedule remain undisclosed.
The series is being developed in partnership with SATTVICA SA, the rights-holding organization overseen by Maradona’s family, with Bridge Marketing Group serving as the intermediary. The creators state that the show will examine Maradona’s significant achievements on the field, his personal challenges off the field, and the cultural legacy that established his prominence beyond the realm of sports.
The sisters of Maradona expressed optimism that the animated style will facilitate the introduction of “their brother” to children globally, enabling younger audiences to explore the extraordinary individual whose impact transformed contemporary sport.
For Reliance Animation, the film represents a pivotal achievement, while for enthusiasts, it provides a novel opportunity to explore and reinterpret the narrative of one of football’s most indelible symbols.
