Croatia advances to the final eight with a draw against Portugal

Croatia booked their place in the Nations League quarter-finals by drawing with already-qualified Portugal.

The visitors secured the top position in Group A1 and opted to rest several of their star players, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portugal seized the advantage in the 33rd minute, as Chelsea forward Joao Felix connected with Vidinha’s pass and struck decisively to score.

Andrej Krameric struck the woodwork as Croatia, seeking a crucial point to advance, intensified their efforts for an equalizer.

It finally arrived in the 65th minute when Manchester City defender Josko Gavrilo turned in a Kristijan Jakic cross at the back post.

Portugal’s custodian Jose Sa made a crucial save against Kramaric as Croatia sought a decisive goal. However, the single point secured was sufficient to propel them into the quarter-finals.

Scotland finished third in their group, clinching a dramatic 2-1 victory in Poland thanks to an injury-time header from Andy Robertson.
