"Man's Best Friend" by Sabrina Carpenter debuts at the top of the Billboard 200

Sabrina Carpenter has ascended to the pinnacle of the Billboard 200 with her recent album, “Man’s Best Friend,” debuting at No. 1.

The 12-track album signifies her second successive chart-topping endeavor within a year, succeeding 2024’s “Short n’ Sweet,” which occupied the No. 1 position for four weeks, currently holds No. 7 this week, and garnered her a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Luminate reports that “Man’s Best Friend” debuted with 366,000 album units, marking Carpenter’s most robust start to date. In contrast, “Short n’ Sweet” debuted with 362,000 equivalent units and regained its status as a top-selling album in the US in February following the launch of its deluxe edition.

“Man’s Best Friend” established multiple records, achieving the largest opening week for any female album in 2025 by exceeding the 219,000-unit debut of Lady Gaga’s “Mayhem”. The album set a new record for the highest streaming debut by a female artist this year, with 184 million streams. In 2025, it attained the record for the most significant single-day streams for a female album on Spotify.

Carpenter’s seventh studio album was preceded by the singles “Manchild” and “Tears,” with “Manchild” achieving the distinction of becoming her inaugural track to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. On September 4, she surprised fans with an extra tune titled “Such a Funny Way,” available only on her website.
