Saif Sarwar is the first person from Bangladesh to create automotive material. His short film “Go Beyond” has made history and is nominated for Best Independent Film at the renowned International Motor Film Awards (IMFA). For the first time, a Bangladeshi automobile movie has reached a global audience.
“Go Beyond” competed against Hollywood productions like “F1,” “Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning,” “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera,” “Heads of State,” and “Weekend in Taipei” at IMFA 2025 after being chosen from 242 entries in 12 categories.
Major productions like “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” Ferrari movies, “Top Gear,” “Gran Turismo,” and “Baby Driver” have been honoured at previous IMFA events.
“This international honour in London is more than recognition; it’s the awakening of a dream — to one day capture the world of Formula 1 through the lens, with Bangladesh’s name attached to it,” Sarwar said in reference to the nomination. My journey has only begun with this nomination. I won’t give up until I experience Formula 1 from a Bangladeshi perspective.
“Go Beyond” encouraged Sarwar, who has more than twelve years of creative expertise, including six years of creating automotive content, to push the boundaries of storytelling. A modified Ford Ranger Wildtrak is used in the film’s high-octane off-road action sequences, which vividly depict the excitement of adventure.
“I had previously produced a lot of videos, but I had never dared to tackle an intense, action-packed off-road narrative. This was my opportunity to put all I’ve learned into practice in a setting that was immersive,” Sarwar continued.
The IMFA honours excellence in automotive television and cinema and is commonly referred to as the Oscars of the automotive industry. The freshly renovated Victorian Theatre at Alexandra Palace in London will host the 2025 awards ceremony on October 2. The black-tie event will honour both recognised and up-and-coming talent in automobile cinema with screenings, award presentations, and a lavish luncheon.
Sarwar’s “Go Beyond” puts Bangladesh on the global automotive cinema scene while also showcasing the nation’s burgeoning interest in automotive culture.
